This painting received the Award of Excellence in the 2019 Utah Watercolor Society Spring Exhibition. Mariko wanted to capture the tranquility of a pond. Even as its surroundings evolve from the lush greenery of spring to warmer autumn tones, the pond remains still. There is peace that can be found within the balanced harmony of natural transitions. She hopes those who view this painting will also experience that same sense of peace.
